How She Began

You could say 'Wimbledon' star Kirsten Dunst entered the pro circuit early, having made her feature debut at the tender age of 7 (in 'New York Stories' -- under the coaching of Woody Allen, no less). Join us as we serve up some of the early roles that foretell the hard-hitting actress's winning career.

    New York Stories (1989)

A star was born when Dunst enters the picture in this clip from Woody Allen's 'Oedipus Rex' segment from a Big Apple anthology. A lineless, cute-as-a-button Dunst plays the youngest daughter of Allen's love interest Mia Farrow (insert Soon-Yi joke here).

The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990)

The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990)

Dunst finally got to talkin' on screen in this notoriously panned adaptation of Tom Wolfe's best-selling novel. As youngster Campbell McCoy, she had the pleasure of calling Tom Hanks "Dad," a privilege enjoyed by very few (besides say, Colin Hanks and that poor kid from 'Road to Perdition').

    Interview With the Vampire (1994)

    Interview With the Vampire (1994)

Poor Kirsten -- in the big-screen version of Anne Rice's gothic horror best-seller, she's young Claudia, cursed to exist eternally as a blonde, doe-eyed blood-sucker. But don't feel too bad for her: She also gets to pucker up with Brad Pitt in her first on-screen kiss.

    Little Women (1994)

    Little Women (1994)

In this adaptation of the classic Louisa May Alcott plucky-sisters novel, Dunst is the youngest sibling, Amy. The older version of her character is played by Samantha Mathis, who wins over the heart of a future superhero, Christian Bale (the upcoming 'Batman Begins').

    Jumanji (1995)

    Jumanji (1995)

While Dunst has appeared in more than 30 movies thus far, this children's adventure may be one she's least often associated with. That's strange, considering she may be the most successful of the large class of Robin Williams' pint-sized costars throughout the years.
