Ask 'Eagle Eye' Stars and Director a Question

Eagle EyeWhat if you could ask Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan and DJ Caruso anything?

You know him as Shia LaBeouf, but he's got a different nickname: It Boy.

Having starred in two of the biggest blockbusters of the last year -- 'Transformers' and 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' -- Shia's well on his way to reaching the echelon of bonafide A-listers. In fact, some might say he's already there.

But it all started with an unheralded thriller called 'Disturbia,' which surprised everyone by winning the box office for three straight weeks last spring and spending 10 straight weeks in the box-office top 10.

Clearly, LaBeouf and director D.J. Caruso some kind of golden chemistry. And that's why they're reteaming for Caruso's thriller 'Eagle Eye,' in which Caruso plays a guy who finds himself being a) framed as a terrorist, and b) manipulated by an mysterious agency that can reach him through any electronic device -- we're talking not just his cell phone but also the radio, electronic tickers, a nearby iPod ... anything.

Toronto Film Festival Day 2: 'Burn After Reading' Heats Up Canada

Burn After Reading"I thought you might be worried ... about the security ... of your sh**." -- Chad Feldheimer (Brad Pitt) in 'Burn After Reading'

Other movies screened on day two of the Toronto International Film Fest, but the Coen Bros. 'Burn After Reading', a black comedy starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney, was the undisputed belle of the ball.

Despite mixed reviews coming out of the Venice Film Fest, the movie proved to be smart, entertaining and, not least of all, outrageously funny.

An interview with the very interesting Brothers Coen was also enlightening, but the highlight of the day came at its end with the glitzy 'Burn After Reading' gala premiere, where throngs upon throngs of people hooted, hollered and stood on ladders outside of Roy Thomson Hall just trying to get a glimpse of Brad Pitt's red-carpet stroll.

Toronto Film Fest: Day 1 Recap: 'Nick and Norah' and the 'Brothers Bloom'

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist"I don't want to go. I'm taking a mental health day." -- Nick (Michael Cera) in 'Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist'

The 2008 Toronto International Film Festival got underway on Thursday, and so far the flicks have not disappointed.

'The Brothers Bloom', a quirky con-man caper/romance/drama/comedy (yes, it melds all those genres) from 'Brick' writer-director Rian Johnson proved to be a very unique concoction.

And the sweet, funny (and sometimes gross) 'Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist' marks another probable hit for 'Superbad' boy Michael Cera and '40-Year-Old Virgin' daughter Kat Dennings.

CELEBRITY INTERVIEWS

Nicolas Cage Interview for Bangkok Dangerous

Nicolas Cage"I don't think I'd be happy if I just gave myself and the audience really wholesome clean-cut characters."

What a long, strange trip Nicolas Cage's career has been.

His movies run the gamut from Oscar winners ('Leaving Las Vegas') to blockbusters ('National Treasure') to quirky critical darlings ('Adaptation') to just plain odd ('Kiss of the Vampire').

Moviefone chatted with Cage about his latest, 'Bangkok Dangerous,' and why he wouldn't have dinner with his character -- but wouldn't have it any other way.

Exclusive 'Sex Drive' R-Rated Clip

James Marsden: Best awful older brother since Buzz?

Sex comedies never go out of style. What's funnier than a loser teen's pathetic attempts to lose his virginity? (Answer: Besides the latest Judd Apatow comedy, not much.)

As we pointed out in last week's trailer post, the October comedy 'Sex Drive' adds a doughnut costume, a meathead James Marsden, and an Amish Seth Green to the equation.

Even better news for true comedy heads? It's got a nice big fat R-rating, and we've got a nice crude R-rated clip for you to sample to the goods. In it, Marsden's "cocksure" older bro emotionally (and physically) torments our aforementioned loser teen (Josh Zuckerman), expelling his twisted wisdom on "how people wind up gettin' gay."

Fall's Hottest Faces

Summer brought the mega-movies, but with fall come the mega-stars.

Brad Pitt. Angelina Jolie. George Clooney. Keira Knightley.

They dominate the tabloids, but it's reassuring to find that Hollywood's most famous still fancy the prestige flicks.

Factor in other heartthrobs (Gerard Butler) and red-hot actors (Robert Downey Jr.) and fall '08 doesn't just promise good movies, but bona fide movie stars, too.

TRAILERS

Hot New Trailer: 'Body of Lies'

Crowe and DiCaprio could be Oscar-worthy cat and mouse.

Long referred to as the 'Untitled Ridley Scott Project,' 'Body of Lies' now has a cool name and an even cooler first trailer.

This post-9/11 action-spy thriller from Scott, who's conquered gritty war before ('Black Hawk Down') and apparently really, really loves working with Russell Crowe (from 'Gladiator' to 'American Gangster,' and even after 'A Good Year'), pits the Aussie actor (as a possibly crooked CIA superior pulling the strings) against Leonardo DiCaprio (as the at-risk agent on the ground).

Whereas most recent terror or war-related movies have been box-office bombs, expect 'Lies' to buck the trend. Maybe because it appeals to both the suspicious eye and the patriotic supporter. But more likely because it's Russell Crowe vs. Leonardo DiCaprio with explosions.

Mr. Moviefone's Tribute to Don LaFontaine

Don LaFontaine"Don was an institution. We've lost the best voice in the best part of the movies: the trailers."

Don LaFontaine, the man responsible for providing the voiceovers for thousands upon thousands of movie trailers, passed away on Labor Day 2008 at the age of 68 -- a great loss for movie fans everywhere.

Fellow voice personality Russ Leatherman, aka our very own Mr. Moviefone, had just come to know Don over the last few months, but LaFontaine's death still struck a chord.

In a fitting tribute, Mr. Moviefone reflects upon the life, loss and legacy of a movie legend, whose face and name you may not have known, but whose voice has probably made you laugh or cry or sent shivers down your spine through the years.
